Our Story
Grounds & Grace started as a folding table at the Saturday farmers' market in 2017. Founders Maya and David Chen had spent years chasing perfect espresso across SΓ£o Paulo, Copenhagen, and Addis Ababa before returning home with a simple conviction: great coffee deserves an unhurried place to be enjoyed.
We opened our first brick-and-mortar on Elm Street in 2019 β a converted 1920s hardware store whose original pressed-tin ceilings and worn oak floors we insisted on keeping. Every beam of afternoon light that falls across those floors feels earned, and so does every relationship we've built with the farmers who grow our beans.
Today we source directly from twelve smallholder farms across Ethiopia, Colombia, Guatemala, and Rwanda, paying well above Fair Trade floor prices. We roast on-site three times a week, publish our green-coffee sourcing notes for every bag, and genuinely love talking coffee nerd stuff with anyone who pulls up a stool.
